Waking up to a good hair day can set the mood for the day, but making every day a good hair day takes some serious effort and time. Thankfully, we've tackled the tangled world of haircare for you.

First things first, decoding the type of hair running wild on your scalp is the key. The diameter of your hair dictates the thickness, whilst the elasticity determines how well it throws itself into different styles. Density isn’t just for the science buffs; it takes a front seat in determining how voluminously your hair will play the diva. And ever wondered why some hair seems to lap up moisture while others remain stubbornly dry? The chameleon named porosity is the answer.

Irrespective of your hair type, whether it’s straight as a runway, curls that cascade like a waterfall, or tufts as twisty as a minefield, what your locks really need is a routine. Like gym bodies don’t produce themselves, neither do luscious locks. They need a routine that includes regular cleansing, conditioning, and an occasional indulgence.

Rebel against the generic! Hair that's color-treated or bleached takes in more snacks, called moisturizing products, than the regular Joe. The Malibu Barbie blonde bombshell in you might also crave fade-resistant products to prevent your vibrant hues from giving up on you.

Lifestyle matters! Swimmers, we see you. Your chlorine-soaked hair needs a heavy helping hand. Hair styling shouldn’t feel like a wrestling match, especially if your scalp condition is more irritated than a cat made to wear a leash. Specialized shampoos come to the rescue here, with their medicated capes fluttering in the wind.

For those who have joined the tangle-free revolution, consider using professional conditioning treatments, hearty hair masks or oils, or specialized products formulated for your hair. And don’t worry, we’re not advocating for you to empty your wallet on salon treatments every month. Products like jojoba, argan, and coconut oil can work wonders in transforming your hair from brittle to brilliant.

Even your heating habits can influence your hair's health. Arm yourselves with heat-protectant products if you plan on using a blow dryer or curling iron as extensions to your arm. And remember, your hair, like a best friend, prefers time and love over heat and strain. If ramen hair is your target and relaxers are your weapon of choice, remember to give your hair a break in between applications.

And then, of course, there's the tried-and-true cleanliness debate. Just how often should we be washing our hair? The answer isn’t etched in stone. For oily comrades or for those with a special fondness for exercising, more frequent washings may be your ticket. For our dry-hearted brothers and sisters, less frequent washes, heavier conditioning and gentle products might keep your locks lustrous.

Remember, above all, your hair care routine should morph and change as you do. Age, environment, and fluctuating hormones can drastically affect your hair's health, so be sure to adapt your routine accordingly.

As in life, when it comes to hair, our favorite four-letter word is balance - balance between keeping it clean and keeping it oiled, balance between styling and letting it breathe, balance between diet and supplements. Your hair can't thrive without the proper nutrients and vitamin input, so make sure you're consuming a rich, varied diet. Unless advised by a healthcare provider, save your cash and skip the hair supplements. Keep your hair satisfyingly clean, suitably conditioned and consider professional advice if you're unsure.
