Turn Up the Health, Not the Heat: No-Cook Meals to Keep You Lean

"If the thought of turning on your oven makes you break out into a cold sweat, even the longest scroll through endless uninspiring takeout menus, won’t take the edge off your hunger pangs. Newsflash: burning the house down isn't a prerequisite for a superior meal. Sink your teeth into the bounty of homemade dishes guaranteed to keep your stomach happy, your body healthy, and your kitchen fire- free.

Let’s break it down: We know that the average takeout meal is as nutritious as Styrofoam packing peanuts and filled with enough sodium to turn you into a human salt lick within minutes. The well-meaning but mildly panic-inducing CDC and American Heart Association have been saying it for years: sneaky sodium overload = hypertension hoedown.

Alternativly, home-cooked grub significantly dials down sodium, slashes through saturated fat, and curbs caloric intake. Ironically, it even ups the good stuff like mean, lean protein and kickass fiber. But, we get it. What to do when your daily schedule is a warpath and your energy levels have hit rock bottom?

Focus on balance, Grasshopper. Literally, just throw together a couple of no-cook meal options. They're as easy as pie (a raw, vegan, gluten-free pie, mind). Hint: Supercharge your avocado sushi roll bowl by throwing in tofu, edamame, or chickpea rice. Alternatively, beef up your green gazpacho by bumping the serving of yogurt up to 3/4 cup.

Takeout is easy. But let's face it, we're not about easy. We're about better, healthier, smarter choices. So, let's get tossing, mixing, and blending - no ovens allowed."
