Yogi Tea Recall: When Organic isn't as Pure as You'd Think

Ever trusted an organic tea like it was your heart surgeon? Well, you might want to step back before you spill the tea. East-West Tea Company, the high-and-mighty producers of the so-popular-that-it’s-on-every-hipster's-kitchen-shelf Yogi organic tea, recalled over 50,000 boxes of their “Immune Support” echinacea tea. Why, you ask? Well, apparently, the tea was a little too 'enriched' with pesticide residues, reaching right over the “action” level- as per an eyebrow-raising report from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This tea-tastrophe started brewing back in March, with over 30 lots of the renegade tea being involved. These ‘organic’ villains were sold nationwide, their identities still on display at the FDA’s website.

And before you yelp about potential damage to your superhuman health & wellness status - the recall’s been pegged as a class 3. For those of you who didn’t major in FDA jargon, it means that while the tea’s purity’s on par with your Fitness Insta story stack, it's “not likely to cause adverse health consequences”

Unfortunately for those of us seeking a dramatic corporate apology, East-West Tea hasn't issued any public statements about this whole kerfuffle. They must be too busy brewing another batch of ‘organic goodness’. To give them a piece of your pesticide-free mind, dial 800-964-4832 or harness your inner keyboard warrior on their website’s customer service form. Just remember, next time you reach for that 'organic' label, you might want to take it with a grain of pesticide.
